1. Application and Shipping
1.1. The organisers' objective is to gather the world's best pigeon fanciers in a One-Loft-Series where every participant is on an equal footing with the rest.
1.2. The applicant will complete their application on the website by filling in an electronic form that will prompt the applicant for the required information. Applicants can also apply via the representative country agent.
1.3. After completing the form, the applicant will be contacted and supplied with more information and rules.
1.4. Only pigeons rung with official 2022/2023 rings/bands will be allowed to be entered. No pigeons can participate in the race for more than one season.
1.5. Previously raced pigeons are not allowed, and such teams will be disqualified.
1.6. The intake period will be from 15 October to 15 January for SA fanciers; Overseas fanciers will be allowed to send pigeons with a second shipment on 20 February 2023.
1.7. Fanciers have the right to top up their team of pigeons for as long as it is within the intake period.
1.8. Collecting and shipping local South African pigeons will be carried out via local courier companies delivering pigeons to Pretoria and OR Thambo weekly. Associated costs are for the participant's account.
1.9. Foreign participants will ship their pigeons to their respective country agents. Please see the AFRIKAPRO website for country agent details.
1.10. Shipping and foreign-country quarantine costs are for the participant's account.
1.11. All pigeons sent to our collection/shipping agent must be vaccinated for Pigeon Pox, Paramyxovirus and Newcastle Disease at least 10 days before shipping. We strongly recommend that all participants vaccinate their pigeons twice, with the first vaccination at 3 weeks and the second vaccination at 6 weeks of age.
1.12. Every registered fancier will be limited to one team per fancier with a limit of no more than 20 pigeons per overseas team.
1.13. Overseas participants will be allowed to send a maximum of 20 pigeons to the AFRIKAPRO loft and local South Africans 15 pigeons.
1.14. The organiser's training team will inspect all pigeons on arrival at the AFRIKAPRO Loft. All pigeons will do a 28-day quarantine at the AFRIKAPRO loft upon arrival.
1.15. No pigeons will be allowed into the AFRIKAPRO loft for intake without a completed registration form.
1.16. The pigeons' ownership will transfer to the organisers once they are accepted into the AFRIKAPRO Loft
1.17. Every pigeon's registration ring will be encapsulated so that the ring number and identity of all the pigeons remain hidden from the training staff throughout the series.
1.18. The care, training and racing method will be at the organisers' sole discretion.
2. Single Bird Entries
2.1. For all single-bird entries, the entry fee is $ 750 / pigeon.
2.2. Single bird entries will participate in the Sprint Series -, ACE Pigeon -, Final Race - and Country Cup competition. Single pigeon entries will not compete in the Black Jacket & Weekly Competition. The formation of Syndicates is welcome to participate in the Black Jacket competition.
2.3. An admission fee of $ 750 is payable upon the arrival of the first pigeon to the organiser for the single bird competitions. Each Fancier/Team must pay the admission fee with the arrival of their first pigeon at the AFRIKAPRO loft. For example, " if fancier X enters 13 single birds, he shall pay US $ 750 admission fee for the arrival of his pigeons. If Fancier Y enters 2 pigeons, he should also pay the admission fee of US $ 750."
2.4. If a participant has no pigeons left on the basketing day for the activation race of 115km, the admission fee of US $ 750 will be refunded.
2.5. After completing the activation race of 115km, AFRIKAPRO will invoice each participant an activation fee of US$ 750 for all pigeons that return. The total Activation fee for all returned pigeons less (minus) the admission fee that has been paid with intake. The activation fee will activate all pigeons for the next 14 consecutive races.
2.6. Every participant should pay the activation fee within 5 (five)
days after the activation race. Failure to make
such payment within the specified period or if
the amount paid is less than the issued invoice. Such participants' pigeons
shall be made available for other fanciers to activate. (US $ 750 /
pigeons’ activation)
3. Full team Entry
3.1. The total entry fee is US$ 15 000.00 per team ($ 3000 admission fee plus $ 12 000 activation fee)
3.2. The full team will participate in the Weekly, Black Jacket, Sprint Series, ACE Pigeon, Final Race, and Country Cup competition.
3.3. AFRIKAPRO will give all participants a final chance to consider the formation of syndicates teams 7 days before basketing for the activation race of 115km. Overseas participants can enter a maximum of 20 pigeons per team, and local South African fanciers can enter a maximum of 15 pigeons per team—all information regarding the formation of syndicate/teams needed to be communicated to lara@afrikapro.com in time.
3.4. An admission fee of $ 3000 is payable with intake. Each Fancier/Team/Syndicate must pay the admission fee upon the arrival of their first pigeons at the AFRIKAPRO loft.
3.5. An Activation fee of US$ 12 000 is payable for your team of pigeons within 14 days after the activation race, regardless of the number of pigeons returning from the 115km activation race in your team.
3.6. Fancier will be allowed only to enter the single-bird competitions based on the single-bird entry conditions if they do not want to proceed with the full team entry. Such a decision will be final and needs to be made before basketing for Race 1.
3.7. Any participant who fails to pay the activation fee within the
prescribed 14 (fourteen) days after the activation race will be
disqualified and forfeit all previously paid fees. In addition, such
participants' pigeons will be made available for other fanciers to activate
for the single bird entries only. The participant will also lose any share
of the post-series auction proceeds.

the 6th race at 280km, and each pigeon's flying time will be
accumulated to crown the top 10 Sprinter ACE pigeons of the year.
4.2. FINAL RACE
4.2.1. All pigeons that make it to the final Race will compete for 200 Prizes.
4.2.2. The organisers reserve the right to adjust the race to ensure a
final race of approximately 9 hours or 600km in distance.
4.3. BLUE JACKET COMPETITION - ACE PIGEON
4.3.1. The ACE PIGEON will be determined by their accumulated flying time over all 14 races in the series. The competition will determine which pigeon performed best across 14 races.
4.3.2. All pigeons take part in this competition with a total of 200 ACE
pigeon prizes.
4.4. FANCIER OF THE WEEK
4.4.1. Only full team entries participate in the fancier of the week competition.
4.4.2. After completing the activation race, every participant must identify and activate their 10 pigeons weekly to compete in the Fancier (Black Jacket & weekly) competition. Any excess pigeons over and above the selected 10-Bird team will serve as reserve pigeons for that particular team.
4.4.3. The winner of the weekly prize will be determined by the fancier
whose first 2 activated pigeons record the shortest accumulated time on
that weekend's race.
4.5. BLACK JACKET COMPETITION – FANCIER OF THE YEAR
4.5.1. Only full team entries participate in the fancier of the year competition.
4.5.2. After completing the activation race, every participant must identify and activate their 10 pigeons weekly to compete in the Fancier (Black Jacket & Fancier of the week) competition. Any excess pigeons over and above the identified 10-Bird team will serve as reserve pigeons for that particular team.
4.5.3. The Black Jacket competition is the main competition at AFRIKAPRO.
The winner will be determined as follows: After the final race, the
participant with the shortest net accumulated flying time of their first 2
activated pigeons over the series will be crowned the "CHAMPION FANCIER".
4.6. COUNTRY CUP COMPETITION
4.6.1. The accumulated time throughout the series of the first 3 pigeons per country will determine the country winning the Country Cup trophy. No prize money will be paid to the winning countries.
5. Race Rules
5.1. If one or more of the 10 activated pigeons of your team is underperforming, lost, sick or passes, it can be replaced with one of the reserve pigeons of the team on your personal fancier portal. No additional fees will be charged to activate a reserve pigeon. * Only applicable for full-team entrants.
5.2. AFRIKAPRO, the race organiser, cannot be held accountable for activating participants' pigeons. It is the responsibility of the fancier to ensure the statuses of active and reserve pigeons are correct before each race.
5.3. No participant will be allowed to use the reserve pigeons of another participant.
5.4. The organisers reserve the right to transfer any pigeons showing signs of illness or fatigue to the recovery bay. Once pigeons are deemed fit, they will be returned for racing.
5.5. The "HOURS OF DARKNESS" rule will apply in calculating the time flown by a fancier's pigeons. The clock will stop 30 minutes after sunset on the 1st day (day of liberation) and restart the following day 15 minutes before sunrise.
5.6. All races will close 30 minutes after sunset on day 2 after liberation. The race organisers have the right to keep the clock running for longer.
5.7. All late pigeons that arrived at a velocity of 500m/min or slower on a race will receive a flying time equivalent to the velocity of 500m/min. The organisers have the right to amend the cut-off velocity at their discretion. * Cut-off velocity = Cut-off flying time
5.8. The final race prizes will be paid out according to positions ranked and not flying time.
5.9. The Fancier of the week, Black Jacket competition, and Blue Jacket Competition rankings will be determined by total flying time.
5.10. Any queries and or objections regarding race results need to be taken up with AFRIKAPRO's admin within 72 hours after said race.
5.11. Access to the AFRIKAPRO Lofts will be strictly controlled, and only participants will be allowed to visit the lofts at an appointment at least 72 hours before an intended visit. No participant will be allowed to enter or handle any pigeons without the supervision of the Loft Manager.
